In the last while we have had quite a lot of rain, wind and even storms. Just look at the pictures below, and you can imagine what it was like. But, guess what, guides work throughout!! Come rain, sunshine, we are out there entertaining our guests.
On the last couple of wine tours to Stellenbosch/Franschhoek we had serious down pours. We had guests from Denmark, UK and Florida in the USA. I must admit they were all very relaxed about the weather and enjoyed the wines at Meerlust, Kanonkop, J.C. le Roux (Sparkling wine), Somerbosch and Grande Provence. It is very entertaining to hear the different comments about the wines. I always tell my guests that if they like the wine, buy it!, irrespective of the price. The reason being that we produce very good wines in the Cape, due to the Mediterranean climate.
Of course, it is whale season now as well. So, if you were to go on a Peninsula Tour, you will see lots of groups of whales playing in the bay. The most unbelievable sight.
On another one of our tours to The Garden Route with seven Texans, we had lots of fun! It is entertaining enough to have a 2m Texan in your vehicle competing with you on the commentary side. We spent five glorious, sometimes rainy, days on the tour. Was quite sad when I said “good bye” to them at the airport. If you spend the whole day in the company of guests, one does tend to become attached to them. Imagine trying to get the big Texan onto the back of an elephant!!
